Heart worm prevention is very important for your dog to prevent a parasite known as a Heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis). According to VCA, these parasites live in the heart and a dog is infected through mosquito bites. This diseases can be diagnosed by performing a Heartworm test. We perform this test annually (yearly) for all our patients. Flea and Tick prevention is also very important for you dog and cat. Flea and tick prevention helps kill them. Preventatives are very important and cost effective as treatment of these diseases is very costly. We start all our dogs and cats on Heart worm, Flea and Tick prevention at a young age to help prevent these diseases. These preventatives have to be used throughout your pets life.
